VINEYARDS OF JUDEA AND SAMARIA

In the times of the Bible, the Promised Land of milk and honey was Judea and Samaria, and the greatest symbol of this hope was the vineyard.

When nosotros began filming in State of israel, our first objective was to find the perfect principal characters for the story. The "large thought" was to show viewers the phenomenon of Israel through half-dozen fascinating Jewish men and women who live throughout the Holy Land—in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, the Coastlands, the Galilee and Golan Heights. In add-on to representing these regions, I wanted these characters to represent a theme of Israel'due south prophetic rebirth. We needed to detect the perfect person to represent Judea and Samaria, and the miraculous rebirth of the Land of Israel returning to life after two,000 years.
For centuries, the regions of Judea and Samaria were covered with vibrant, fertile grapevines. These vines produced some of the finest wine in the world, enjoyed past Jewish families, priests and kings. The Bible details the importance of wine for shabbat, the Biblical feasts and the temple service. Only all of this came to an cease after the Romans destroyed Jerusalem in seventy A.D. They uprooted the ancient vines of Judea and Samaria and shipped them to Italy.
For near 2,000 years, no vineyards existed on these mountains. But in the belatedly 1990's, a few Jewish men returned to the mountains of Judea and Samaria with a goal to change that. One of those men was Yaakov Berg.

For years, Christian volunteers from the organization, HaYovel, have been working next with Jewish farmers in this region. Through the great people at HaYovel, nosotros were privileged to be introduced to Yaakov Berg. Yaakov is a hubby, father and founder of Psagot Wines and Winery.
